Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara said he was not fighting anyone. “I am, rather, defending the state from predators; I am protecting Rivers from those who feel they own the lives of others,” he said in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, when the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization paid him a courtesy call.

Fubara said the failed attempt to detonate an explosive device at the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt was a deliberate plan to enforce the call for a state of emergency.
