It is required to revive Nigeria ‘S Fall expensive FIFA 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, while taking them to a successful AFCon tournament at the end of this year.

In an interview with Canal+ Sport Afrique, the Malian explained the process that led to his appointment.

“When I left the Malian team, there was a call for NFF applications, and requested like any other coach. Then the interview came,” Chelle said.

The coach also revealed that he presented his vision and football philosophy at a training conference organized by the NFF.

“I was invited to a coach conference where I presented my project or my vision and philosophy. I thought it would happen much faster, but due to some events, I had to wait, so I left.

“I went to Rouen, but then it is true that I had this opportunity to lose. So I returned. For this great project,” he said.

Chelle also recognized the seriousness of the NFF during the final conversations, saying that his determination convinced him to accept the role.

“In the last moments of negotiation, you felt its determination and that made me come. We were in discussions from before that. He took time, but then accelerated.

“It was very fast, maybe that’s why he made a great buzz there, but no no, no more, he was aligned in what he wanted to do.”

Chelle has begun his role with some stability, ensuring four points of his first two games in charge in the World Cup qualifiers.
