Why I would never sign James Rodriguez

Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiano has explained why he would never sign Colombian midfield star James Rodriguez.

Speaking about why he passed up the opportunity to sign Rodriguez, Fabiano explained the age factor as the main reason behind his decision.

“I would never choose James,” Fabiani said in an interview with Lazio Style Channel (Via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

“He is 33 years old and in recent years he has never played more than 12 or 13 games per season. He played very well in the last Copa America. But signing him for one or two years would go against all logic.

“With all due respect to the player, we need to make 360-degree assessments in terms of age and minutes played.

“We prefer other options. Many names you read in the papers are passed on by their agents. Not even Fabiani knows some of the players in question.”

Rodríguez was the star of this year’s Copa América after being named Player of the Tournament.

He recorded six assists and led his country to the final, where they lost 1-0 to Argentina.
