The police agency in Katsina has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for allegedly shoplifting goods worth ₦10.1 million in the state.
This was disclosed by the Spokesman of the State Police Command, Aliyu Abubakar, in a statement on Friday in Katsina.
He said the Green House store’s Head of Security reported the suspect’s arrest on March 4.
He described the suspect as a notorious shoplifter operating in the metropolis.
Abubakar said the stolen goods were worth ₦10,102,000.
“The suspect was caught on CCTV at the Green House, seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop.
“After analysis of the footage, he was closely monitored, resulting in him being arrested at the scene,” the spokesperson said.
He said a search of the suspect’s residence resulted in the recovery of goods worth N10,102,000.
Items that were rescued included 274 pairs of shoes, 37 headscarves, 67 sets of sportswear and 54 children’s clothes.
Others include 123 hats, 315 sets of socks, 45 women’s packs, nine handbags, three cartons of spaghetti, 24 perfumes and five cartons of soap.
The rest were bags containing various kinds of fashion jewelry and bags containing various cooking herbs and spices.
According to him, the owners of these items have been identified, and there are still many more victims being traced.
