Zulum describes Maiduguri floods as devastating

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has visited camps where victims of Monday’s devastating floods in Maiduguri were camped.

According to a statement from the Borno State Government House media office, at all the places visited on Tuesday, Zulum expressed solidarity with the victims and assured them that they will receive adequate care until the water recedes and people return to their homes.

He said: “I am disturbed by the calamity that befell us on Monday, resulting from the increased volume. We are doing everything we can to provide relief to our people.

“We will provide you with all the necessary relief support and ensure that you return to your homes as soon as the situation improves for the better.”

The statement said that in the last two days, many states in the north-east have been experiencing flood disasters this year, attributed to the high volume of rainfall.

He added that the flood-prone areas of the Republics of Chad and Cameroon share borders with communities in Borno State.
