The governor of the state of Borno, Professor Babagana Zulum, has reaffirmed his commitment in making further sacrifices to guarantee lasting peace in the state.
On Friday he gave his promise while happy with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha.
Zulum has promised to intensify the efforts to strengthen security in all areas of the local government reinforced, while underlining that the state government will maintain close collaboration with the federal government, the armed forces and other security agencies to achieve sustainable peace.
In a message from Sallah through his special councilor for the media, Dauda Iliya, the governor urged the citizens of Borno and beyond to use the holiday period to remember the troops on the front line, civil JTF, hunters and vigilants who continue to sacrifice their lives for the stability of the region.
He said: “I extend my warm congratulations to Muslim UMMAH on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha, a sacrifice festival,” said governor Zulum.
“We instruct the virtues of patience, charity and obedience to omnipotent Allah, as exemplified by the Prophet Abraham. We must also keep our courageous troops and voluntary forces in our prayers, since their sacrifices allow us to live in peace.”
“My recent visit to Mars, Rann, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa, Kukawa and Monguno is reassuring, we will continue to build resilience among our people. This is the only way to defeat the insurrection. For my part, I will continue to do extra sacrifices and we will invest enormously in the security sector to achieve sustainable peace”, he added.
Zulum has also congratulated Borno pilgrims who perform with Hajj this year in the Holy Land, exhorting them to pray for the state, the North East and the country as a whole.
“Prayer is the key to our success,” he observed. “A few weeks ago, I asked for a special day of prayer and fasting, which received overwhelming support. This demonstrates our collective determination to end this conflict”.
Zulum said that his administration would not rest on the oars until the safety was restored throughout the state.
