10th Wafcon title: Tinubu will receive the victorious Super Falcons on the return to Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed joy for the spectacular victory of the Super Falcons at Africa Women’s Africa Cup (Wafcon) of 2024, stating that he can’t wait to receive the trophy in Abuja.

In a post-match video call with the captain of the Rasheedat Ajibade team, his teammates and Nigerian officials, President Tinubu congratulated the team for obtaining a tenth continental title and raised the spirits of the nation.

β€œI am very, very proud of you. The entire nation is proud of you. You have raised the spirit. You are a pride for your generation and we are all very happy.

“You will be celebrated and congratulate all the coaches and the management of the team, including ministers and officials,” he said.

The president extended his best greetings to Rasheedat Ajibade, who emerged as the most precious player of the tournament and won the woman of the tournament prize.

He also praised the calm of Esther Okoronkwo during a crucial moment in the final, describing his 64 -minute penalty kick, which aroused a dramatic return, as “very courageous”.

Okoronkwo created the second goal and delivered the decisive free kick that Jennifer Echegini converted into Nigeria’s 3-2 victory.

“Safe Journey at home, have fun, avoid injuries, God bless you,” said the president to the players and exulting officials, who have repeatedly intervened with “Thank you, Mr. President!”

Responding on behalf of the team, Ajibade thanked the president for approving the complete payment of the players’ allowances.

He assured him that the team was anxious to present him the Wafcon Trophy in Abuja.

The lively exchange ended with a lively interpretation of the national National and three fragorous “Gbosa!” Greetings for the president.
