Minister of State for Finance nominee, Taiwo Oyedele, said on Wednesday at least 12 states in the country have enacted the Tax Harmonization Act.
Oyedele spoke at the graduation ceremony of 5,900 young entrepreneurs trained by the MTN Foundation on various entrepreneurship, business and innovation modules in Abuja.
The tax harmonization law was recently introduced by the Federal Government as part of the Tax Reforms in the country.
According to Oyedele, 13 other states have submitted the laws to their respective Houses of Assembly for implementation, while other states are at various stages of implementing the reforms.

He said President Bola Tinubu’s tax reforms were intended to ensure the modernization of the fiscal framework for businesses to strive and grow, protect vulnerable populations and reset the fiscal transformation of the country’s economy.
Oyedele added that the National Tax Harmonization Act aims to eliminate tax harassment, prevent harassment of citizens under any guise, simplify taxes, protect the rights of citizens as taxpayers and end unfair tax treatment.
He said that transparency, fiscal discipline and responsibility and accountability are key issues in any taxation system.
Oyedele commended the MTN Foundation for being at the forefront of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
“The MTN Foundation, through the Young Innovators and Entrepreneurs Training Initiative, has provided training and job tools for more than 15,000 young people since its founding,” he said.
