12 -year -old boy, another 9 arrested as police raid “Yahoo School” in Lagos


The agents of the Lagos State Police Command discovered and dismantled the fraud training structure on the Internet, commonly called “Yahoo school”, operating in the IJU state area.

The command spokesman, the CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed it in a statement issued on Tuesday 1 April 2025.

Hundeyin said the police officers arrested four Yahoo experts and six trainees during the raid.

Hundeyin said: “During successful operations, police detectives arrested four Yahoo experts, 22, 23, 25 and 26 years old, who managed the notorious school.

“The other six suspicions, which are between 12 and 26 years old, are their criminal trainees, all subjected to training in IT crime and fraud.

“The preliminary investigations have revealed that the main suspicions of the structure recruited their anmber trainees, they committed them to commit fraud on the internet and other related crimes.

“The proceeds of their fraudulent activities have been confiscated by the main suspicions”.

The police spokesman revealed that all suspicions were transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigations (Scid), Yaba, for further discreet investigations and criminal actions.

Hundeyin said that efforts were also underway to arrest other accomplices.

Hundeyin added: “Food efforts are underway to arrest the sponsors who financed the enrollments of the trainees in the school, as well as the owner of the structure in which these criminal and illegal activities took place.

“The owner of the structure is warned, in his own interest to immediately transform himself to the Department of State Criminal Investigation (Scid), Yaba, from wherever he hides.”

Hundeyin observed that the command would ensure that all the suspicions were accused in court for the charge, at the end of the investigations in case.

He said that the 12 -year -old suspicion with each other, with signs of healing of injuries on his body, was receiving medical care.

The police spokesman said: “In line with the right trial of the law, the juvenile suspicion with lesions presumably inflicted on him by the main main suspicion of forcing him to the commission of criminal acts, he is given medical treatment.

“He is held in protective custody until his relatives are identified and gathered with him.”

Hundeyin urged the parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and departments, to prevent them from being exploited, attracted or forced to fall into criminal activities.

Hundeyin also recommended to any member of the public, who had fallen victim to the fraudulent activities of the criminal union, to go to the scid in Yaba with their complaints.

He added that the police commissioner of the State of Lagos, Olohundare Jimh, praised officers for arrested the suspicions.

“The CP ensures all the residents of Lagos that the command remains resolved and committed to fighting all forms of crimes and criminals, including the computer crime tagged” Yahoo “, etc.”, said Hundeyin.

He quoted the police commissioner as if to urge Lagos residents to report any suspect or accident activity to the police in their locations for a ready action.
