The emotional coach admitted that it was a difficult match against a very good team managed by a tactically sound coach, hence the deep level of relief he felt with his team’s victory.

He explained how they achieved the comeback and said with glee: “First of all, I will thank God Almighty and then I will give credit to all my players. I applaud each one of them for their valiant efforts.

“When we were losing 1-0, I saw that our problem was that we were trying to entertain the crowd. So I told my guys to move forward so we could attack them more and more than they were attacking us.

“I knew that the more we attacked them, the more we would push them back, and that’s how we were able to get our two goals.

“They are a very good team. I didn’t even think we could beat them, but it was the technique we put into the game that helped us.”

The eloquent coach highlighted how good the opponents were and acknowledged that they gave his team a good lesson on how to prepare for their next two group games in order to qualify for the next round of the competition.

“They are a very good team and their coach is very good technically. That’s why I decided to take advantage of the fact that they like to attack to put pressure on them from behind.

“When we pushed them back, we had the opportunity to put pressure on them and we got what we wanted.

“We are now planning the next match. We will play all our matches as if they were the final, in order to qualify for the group stage.

“I believe that, with the character of the players I have and with Allah Almighty, we will achieve it,” Abiodun concluded in an optimistic tone.
