Nigeria’s national female national team coach, Bankole Olowookere, has reaffirmed his firm belief in preparation such as the mother rock of success, since the team intensifies the early bases before the FIFA 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Speaking about the strategy of the team, the objectives and the first plans, Olowookere revealed that Nigeria’s preparations began even before the World Cup raffles were held.
He talked about his commitment to build a competitive and historical team.
“Or we won the World Cup last time, or obtained anything or did not get anything, the main thing is the preparation,” said Olowookere.
“There is no shortcut to any success than preparation. And that is what we have embarked.”
Explore beyond borders, looking at new talents
Olowookere, who previously led Nigeria’s U-17 to a quarterfinal end in the last edition, revealed that the team has already been active in the exploration talent, both locally and internationally and part of the bases for the tournament.
“As I tell you, at the recent sports festival, we can detect some numbers of players that we know that, at least, if not two, few can reach the national team if they join the training,” he said.
“So we are not waiting, we are moving to see this even collecting some of those types throughout the country.”
“Then the preparation has already begun, even before the draws.”
Mission: History and Pride for Nigeria
Looking beyond participation, Olowookere made clear his ambitions that this team is not only preparing.
The coach said the preparation began even before the World Cup raffle, since the team points to success under the current NFF administration.
He assured that Falconets are preparing to win and to be part of something bigger than they themselves.
“So we are working hard. Children have done it before. I want to make history for Nigeria,” he said with conviction.
“The girls want to make history. My technical team wants.”
“In fact, I want to be part of the success of this parent administration of the Nigeria Football Federation.”
“And I think it will be a great thing for every Nigeria, if this girl can bring that glory, that pride back to Nigeria. And we are working on that.”
The 2025 Women’s FIFA World Cup is scheduled for October, and with the support of the NFF, and the hunger of a new generation of players, Nigeria U-17 women aimed at competing and conquering.
