2025 World Pharmacists’ Day: the Minister of Health Prof. Pate states that pharmacists are strategic partners to build healthier companies
While Nigeria joined the rest of the world in commemorating the World Pharmacists of 2025, the coordinated minister of health and well -being of the Welfare Welfare Muhammad Ali Pate with, said the vital role of pharmacists as a strategic partners in the construction of a healthier and more resilient society.
Prof. Pate revealed it through the supervised director of the permanent secretary, Mrs. Ladidi Bako-Ayegbusi Mni; Also the director/Heaɗ, the nutritional department of health; During a ministerial press briefing that marks the Maiden Edition of the Nigeria of the World Day of 2025 pharmacists, the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacists”.
World Pharmacists’ Day is held every year, September 25th.
Highlighting the meaning of the day and the role of the profession pharmacy, the coordinated minister said that pharmacists are not only simple medical distributors, but strategic partners in the construction of healthier and more resilient companies.
He added “throughout Nigeria, pharmacists have emerged as health professionals on the front line, accessible, trusted and indispensable. From government cities to remote villages, they act as a first point of contact for millions in search of health care, drugs and preventive services.
Pharmacists are not only providing individual health platforms, but are strengthening the foundations of our national health system “.
Telling the support of the pharmaceutical profession in the policy sector, Professor Pate, has announced that the government has been able to strengthen the pharmaceutical landscape through the federal ministry of health and social well-being by introducing the national drug policy, e-pharmacy policy and the national list of essential medicine that mark the excellent edition that has been recently launched.
These transformative policies also stated, align with the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu underlining the strengthening of health infrastructures, promoting local content and pharmaceutical production, as well as investments in the development of human capital.
“The current administration is promoting local content with the support of the pharmaceutical profession. And without the profession of pharmacy, without reliable and committed pharmacists, we will not be able to achieve this goal. Investing in human capital and professional development. This is something that the government has given priority. We portray. And we guarantee that training is in line with the global context”, says the coordinated minister.
Highlighting the results of the Nigeria pharmacy, he underlined that the profession in Nigeria has achieved significant milestones to be shown globally, including the creation of the center of pharmacovigilance at national level through Nafdac, an increase in the growth of local pharmaceutical production, expanding the clinical practices of pharmacy in hospitals and health centers. All of these observed, reflect the resilience, innovation and professionalism of the pharmacists of Nigeria.
Driving on these assessments, Professor Pate has urged the support of the private sector, individuals, development and implementation of local and international partners to fully exploit the potential of pharmacies.
He underlined the collective effort to improve and support investments in pharmaceutical education and the development of the workforce and, strengthening the regulatory application to eliminate counterfeiting and poor medicine, as well as promoting research and innovation in the pharmaceutical sciences.
“Nigeria is a great country and we will be the centerpiece of medicine in Africa. So we depend on you, on the profession of pharmacies, to achieve this goal. Together, we are modeling the future in which each Nigerian has access to safe, effective and convenient medicines,” said the coordinated minister.
Speaking previously, the Permanent Federal Secretary of Healthcare and Social Wellness, Daju Kachollom MNI, represented by Mrs. Olufowobi Yusuf Adeola, food director, chemistry, cosmetics and water safety (Department of Food & Drugs FmohSW services) has described pharmacists such as the spine in the health system- affirming the theme of this year ” Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Though Thouting Health “.
