2027: Benin monarch Oba Ewuare II advises Iyamu before rush to Oredo

Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, to abide by the rules as he campaigns for the 2027 general elections.

The monarch gave the advice when Iyamu, former Edo State Commissioner for Education, visited the palace in Benin City ahead of his campaign.

Iyamu told the monarch that he considered it important to seek guidance from the palace before embarking on his campaign against the people of Oredo.

According to him, the advice and prayers of the traditional institution would support his bid to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

Iyamu also pledged to serve the people responsibly if elected and congratulated the monarch on his 10th coronation anniversary.

Oba Ewuare II, who reiterated the non-partisan stance of the palace, said he was a father to all political parties and candidates.

He urged Iyamu to consider the expectations of Oredo residents and respect the rules of the electoral process.

The monarch later prayed for Iyamu and his campaign team and wished them well.
