2027: Ondo APC NASS candidates sue for peace and unity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the 2027 national assembly elections in Ondo State have appealed to party members to accept the outcome of the party primary elections and refrain from protests, stressing that unity remains crucial to the party’s success in the general elections.

The appeal was made in Akure on Friday after the candidates returned from Abuja where the party concluded uploading the results of the national assembly primary elections.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates, the party flagbearer for Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency, Michael Akintomide, appealed to aggrieved members to remain calm and respect the supremacy of the party, appealing for the National Working Committee (NWC) to conduct the exercise in accordance with the party constitution.

“There is no need for agitation. The National Working Committee has spoken and there is party supremacy. Anything circulating on social media contrary to the party’s stand should be ignored. Even if there are protests, members should not participate. The process has produced credible candidates,” he said.

Akintomide reaffirmed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa remained the leader of the APC in Ondo State and expressed confidence that he and the party leadership will work together ahead of the 2027 elections.

He acknowledged that disagreements were common after party primaries, but expressed optimism that members would reconcile in the party’s interests.

“Everyone has the right to express their displeasure, but in the end we will unite because the party is bigger than individual interests. United we will emerge victorious,” he added.

Also speaking, the APC candidate for the Ireland/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, Jimi Odimayo, called on members to rally behind all candidates produced through the primaries, describing the APC as a “united family” despite competition during the nomination process.

He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for what he described as their roles in the successful conduct of the primaries.
