Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, insisting that he has no moral authority to stop the planned #EndBadGovernance protests.
Secondus argued that Tinubu, who had benefited from the protests during his time in opposition, should not seek to silence the voices of the Nigerian people at this time.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Secondus stressed the duty of citizens to hold the government accountable, especially in the face of economic crises and insecurity. He criticized the use of partisan, ethnic and religious sentiments to prevent protests, and highlighted the need for a non-partisan and holistic approach for all Nigerians.

βThe state of anomie that we are currently experiencing as a country is worsening because citizens are failing in their duty to hold government at all levels to account,β he said.
Secondus defended the planned protests as a democratic platform to raise national awareness and force leaders to act in the interests of citizens. He urged that the protests not be obstructed, and stressed the importance of holding the government accountable.
βThe planned #EndBadGovernance protests βare a non-partisan, pan-Nigerian and altruistic form of citizen engagement aimed at addressing the unrest in our country.
“This protest must not be hindered. Protest remains the most powerful democratic platform that can raise the awareness of nations, and also the awareness of the leadership elite can be encouraged and forced to act correctly for the interests of citizens,” he said.
The planned #EndBadGovernance protests have fueled concerns about the countryβs economic and security challenges. Secondusβ remarks have added fuel to the fire, with many Nigerians echoing his calls for accountability and good governance.
