FIBA Africa U18 Basketball Qualifiers Zone 3: Junior Tigers travelled on baby elephants to South Africa

Nigeria’s Junior Tigers made it three wins from three games, with a 70-60 victory over hosts Ivory Coast in the ongoing FIBA โ€‹โ€‹Africa U18 Basketball Qualifiers in Abidjan.

In previous group games, the J’Tigers had defeated Ghana 72-47 in the first game and then thrashed Liberia 82-49 in the second game.

The match against hosts Ivory Coast was intense and hard-fought, showcasing the vivacity, tenacity and innate talent of the boys coached by coach Humphrey Fubara Onyanabo.

With this victory, the J’Tigers earned the only ticket to represent FIBA โ€‹โ€‹Zone 3 at the final of the FIBA โ€‹โ€‹Africa U18 basketball tournament scheduled to take place later this year in South Africa.

Nigeria, who already have seven U-18 titles under their belt, will now play to reach their 12th Final Round and also aim for an eighth title.

The final qualifiers in South Africa will serve as a qualifying opportunity for the FIBA โ€‹โ€‹Under-19 World Championship.
