Eric Chelleโs agent says his client is yet to speak to anyone at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the viral news that his client will take over as the new coach of the Nigeria senior national team, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Chelle has been chosen by the NFF technical committee to replace Finidi George who stepped down as coach of the team after poor performances in the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic respectively.
The Super Eagles will be back in action in September and the NFF hierarchy headed by its president Ibrahim Musa Gusau says a new coach will be in place ahead of the AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic in Uyo in about a month.
Reacting to the news that the former Mali international and coach has been given the job, his representative said there has been no contact with the NFF since the last interview session which was held about three weeks ago virtually.
He said that although his client is eager to take over as coach of the team, there is no truth in reports that he will meet top Nigerian football officials to discuss terms and conditions, which he said will not be a problem due to the passion his client has for the job.
