Governor Mutfwang eases curfew in Jos-Bukuru metropolis

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has eased the curfew previously imposed in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.

The governor on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew in the metropolis following violent protests by youths.

The order was issued following the looting of public and private assets by criminals in Jos North local government area of ​​the state.

He later relaxed the curfew to allow free movement in the area.

The Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, announced the latest development in a statement on Friday in Jos.

He said there would now be free movement between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, effective Saturday.

Bere said the decision was taken following an appeal by security agencies regarding calm in the area.

“In view of the improving security situation in Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau Government has relaxed the curfew, effective Saturday, August 10.

“Citizens are now allowed to move freely to carry out their lawful activities between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm daily until further notice.

“Governor Caleb Mutfwang, after consulting with security agencies, has authorized this relaxation.

“This adjustment is intended to allow law-abiding citizens to continue their economic activities while maintaining public order,” the governor’s aide added.
