Olympic Football: Spain wins gold medal after beating hosts France in thrilling final

Spain emerged as Olympic football champions after beating hosts France in a thrilling final on Friday night.

Spain, who won Euro 2024 after beating England in the final a few weeks ago, continued their dominance in international football.

Spain also won the men’s Under-19 European title last month, while the women’s team lifted the World Cup last year.

After the score was 3-3 after extra time at the Parc des Princes in Paris, Spain scored twice in extra time to secure a big win.

Sergio Camello’s two goals sparked jubilation among the Spanish public, as they won Olympic gold for the first time since 1992.

“It wasn’t easy to build this team, but I’m proud of the work we did,” said Thierry Henry, who coaches the French Olympic team.
