Lewandowski scores as Barca start La Liga season with win over Valencia

Robert Lewandowski scored as Barcelona secured a 2-1 win over Valencia in their La Liga opener on Saturday night.

Barca started life under new boss Hansi Flick with a win at Valencia.

Trailing in the 44th minute to Hugo Duro’s goal from Diego Lopez’s cross, Barcelona came from behind to secure a remarkable win.

Lewandowski scored the equaliser in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time when he latched onto Lamine Yamal’s pass and fired home.

The Polish forward then scored the winner four minutes into the second half when he converted a penalty after Raphinha was fouled in the box.

Remember that Barcelona finished 10 points behind champions Real Madrid as runners-up last season. They face Athletic Bilbao in their next match next Saturday.
