20 kidnapped medical students reportedly free again

The 20 medical students kidnapped by suspected bandits in Benue State have reportedly regained their freedom.

Students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos were kidnapped by bandits along with a house officer along the Otukpo-Enugu Expressway last Thursday.

The victims were on their way to Enugu State to attend the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students when they were attacked.

A security source confirmed the students’ release to reporters on Friday evening.

He said the operation coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) was carried out by members of the Nigerian Army, police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
