Police arrest two robbery suspects in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected robbers in the state capital.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil detailed that the suspects, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to their roles in assisting the armed robbery operation and admitted their involvement in the theft of various valuables from several houses.

The statement underlined the significant recovery of stolen items, including five laptops, four mobile phones, five power banks, one router, six watches, one box of jam and one clipper.

According to the statement, “In the early hours of Monday, August 26, 2024, the command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by Sani Mohammed and in collaboration with the Yan Committee, made a major breakthrough by intercepting a tricycle carrying suspicious persons in the Unguwan Jahun area of ​​Bauchi metropolis.”

Although the suspects attempted to flee, two men—Aliyu A. Aliyu, also known as Jagaba, aged 24, and Abdulrahman Ibrahim, also known as Abdun Umma, aged 17, both from the Jahun area—were arrested at the scene.

The statement further noted that the command was continuing investigations to apprehend the remaining gang members.

Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad commended the efforts of the Rapid Response Force and reiterated his commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state.
