Magic water: Prophet Fufeyin denies using NAFDAC name to defraud Nigerians

The General Overseer of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry in Delta State, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, has denied using the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) brand to sell spiritual items including his miracle water and soap.

The Director-General of the NDLEA, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye in a statement on Sunday, accused Fufeyin and the church of falsifying NAFDAC approvals for spiritual items to deceive Nigerians into believing that the products were certified by the agency.

But the church, in a statement issued on Monday by its media division and signed by Sophia Iloyd, described the NDLEA’s allegations as false and misleading.

The statement read: “As a church, we are guided by our faith and the teachings of the Bible. We have used religious objects as an expression of our religious beliefs.

“The Church categorically denies the claims made in the publication, which suggests that NAFDAC warned the public about the activities of the ministry.

“Our church has never deceived the public. We do not manufacture or sell consumer goods to the public, let alone use the name of NAFDAC to do so.”

The church also denied claims that several people had petitioned the agency, saying the only pending complaint against it was sent by someone named Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkblackman, who the church has taken to court for allegedly forging receipts to support his claims against the ministry.

The church acknowledged receiving a letter from NAFDAC dated August 27, 2024, inviting its spiritual head to investigate the use of miraculous items and healings.

“We have written to NAFDAC and informed them that the receipt submitted by the complainant is under police investigation. However, NAFDAC has not responded to our letter or provided any comment on the matter,” he added.
