Ademola Lookman’s blistering run looked set to open the game but he crashed his effort into the oncoming goalkeeper and moments later his goal was controversially ruled out for offside.
Lookman was quickest to react to a Semi Ajayi touch from a throw-in to head in at the far post, the goal was disallowed but replays showed it should have counted as he was in an offside position against the decision of the assistant referee who made the call.
Victor Boniface hit the bar from inside the area and also had another effort cleared off the line after good work by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Substitute Victor Osimhen had three separate chances to put the game to bed, but his weak shot was easily intercepted.
