NSCDC chief says it’s time the institute helps train deserving administrators

The Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has said it is time to strengthen the influence of the Institute of Registered Administrative Officers of Nigeria and position it as a key player in the public and administrative sectors of the country by producing worthy administrators.

Audi made the statement after being named the institute’s fourth president on Tuesday. He vowed to strengthen the body’s role in shaping national politics and governance.

The new president said: “I will work hard to explore the opportunities available to raise the standards of the institute and will also strive to improve the quality of service and research to enhance knowledge and administrative skills in our pursuit of excellence for members and the general public.”

Audi, however, called for collaboration, stressing that to achieve these goals, all members must actively contribute their ideas to expand the institute’s influence in both the public and private sectors.

He said: “We need to work collectively to improve the quality of service, research and administrative expertise within the institute.”

He further stressed the importance of improving the institute’s standards of research and service, noting that this was essential to further the progress of the Nigerian bureaucratic framework.

He called for teamwork, saying, “I therefore request your support and cooperation through your active participation and contribution of ideas and insights as we make collective efforts to achieve the goals of this noble institute and realize our common purposes.

“As a team player, I ask for your collaboration in a joint effort to drive the change we desire, to reposition the institute for greater relevance in the national discourse, public policy, and advocacy,” the president pledged.

In his welcome address, a member of the institute’s governing board, Ohiemero Izegaegbe, expressed confidence in the new leadership, urging the board and the incoming president to leave a lasting legacy by helping the institute achieve founding institute status during their tenure.

Izegaegbe said: “We implore the current members of the Council and the incoming President that their names will be written in an indelible mark of history if the institution is granted chartered status during their tenure.”
