Borno govt warns residents about crocodiles, snakes as floods hit communities

The Borno State government on Tuesday warned residents of the state to be wary of crocodiles, snakes and other dangerous animals that have washed up on the shore due to flooding.

The government’s warning follows devastating floods in Maiduguri.

The state witnessed one of its worst flooding incidents in years after the Alau Dam collapsed on Tuesday, forcing residents to flee their homes in Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, Bulabulin and other communities in the state capital.

Borno State Museum Park General Manager Ali Don Best said in a statement that the floods had swept dangerous animals into the settlement.
