Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, said on Saturday next weekend the governorship election in Edo State would be a test of the nation’s democracy.
Damagum stated this at the party’s peak campaign event in Benin City.
He urged security agencies to ensure professionalism and uphold justice during and after the elections.
He said, from the campaign route that we have taken, the Edo people have accepted our candidate.
“I would like to take this opportunity to inform our security agencies that you are paid with taxpayers’ money.
“You must uphold the values on which you were created.”
Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Election, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, warned against compromising the electoral process.

He invited the public to come in droves and exercise their voting rights on September 21.
He noted that “Edo is known as the cradle of civilization and intellectualism, and should not be satisfied with anything less.”
Fintiri noted that Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki had done his best for the state and left a milestone in terms of human resource development.
Obaseki, in his remarks, described the gubernatorial election as an “existential threat.”
He said: “With all the achievements that the PDP government has recorded in Edo, we do not want to go back.”
