Osimhen marks Galatasaray debut with assist in 5-0 win

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen grabbed an assist on his debut for Galatasaray in their 5-0 win over Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.

Osimhen was named in Galatasaray’s starting XI despite having joined the club on loan from Napoli just a few days ago.

He thought he had put Galatasaray ahead in the 25th minute when he headed the ball into the net.

But a Galatasaray player, Abdulkerim Bardakci, put his foot out just before the ball entered the net and Osimhen was credited with the assist.

Ibrahim Olawoyin and David Akintola also came into action for Rizespor.

Former Davinson Sánchez put Galatasaray ahead in the 3rd minute, while Gabriel Sara made it 3-0 in the 49th minute.

Former Napoli star Dries Mertens made it 4-0 in the 61st minute before Baris Yilmaz added a fifth goal 10 minutes from time.

The victory put Galatasaray, now with 12 points, at the top of the standings, just two points ahead of Fenerbahce.
