Opunabo Inkor Tariah, former Special Adviser on Media to former Governor Nyesom Wike, has voiced his strong belief that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will get a second term if he chooses to run in 2027.
Responding to Wike’s latest comments, Opunabo asserted that Fubara’s “mass-oriented projects” across all 23 local government areas of Rivers State have received widespread support from the people. He stated emphatically that no one, including Wike, has the authority to stop Fubara’s re-election campaign.
“Power comes from God,” Opunabo said. “Wike ruled for eight years, and Rotimi Amaechi also ruled for eight years. It is only natural that Fubara served two terms.”

Opunabo also challenged Wike’s assertion that Fubara had “violated the law” and failed to comply with the president’s eight-point peace agreement. He called the agreement “lopsided” and “biased”, arguing that it favoured Wike over the country.
“The governor has shown gratitude to Wike for his role in his election, but that does not mean he should be dictated to,” Opunabo said. “Fubara will not sacrifice the nation’s finances to serve Wike’s interests.”
This statement comes amid rising tensions between Wike and Fubara, with Wike openly stating his refusal to support Fubara’s re-election bid.
