Ganduje denies allegations of Emir Sanusi coup plot

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied allegations linking him to a fresh attempt to overthrow the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The denial follows a viral social media report claiming, “Ganduje is leading a new plot to overthrow Emir Mohammad Sanusi.”

Ganduje, who was serving as governor when Sanusi was removed from office, addressed the issue in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment.

The statement stressed that “Ganduje had nothing to do with the enthronement or removal of the current Emir Mohammad Sanusi of Kano. It is noteworthy that he is no longer the executive governor or the speaker of the House of Representatives and therefore can no longer do anything as the Emir of Kano.”

He also expressed disbelief at the allegations, saying, “It is ridiculous that Ganduje who has been out of the governorship for several years is now accused of masterminding a new plot to remove or enthrone an Emir. He is now very busy leading the APC. He is content with the immense contributions he has made in the form of huge democratic dividends, infrastructural development and good governance he delivered while in power as governor.”

Ganduje also criticized those spreading the allegations, claiming they had exposed a “secret and treacherous motive” to create discord between him and the presidency.

He concluded by reiterating his respect for President Bola Tinubu, stating, “Our relationship is very good and no amount of blackmail can damage the solidity of this partnership.”
