Atiku’s former spokesman Bwala may eye ministerial post, speaks on Tinubu cabinet reshuffle plans

Former spokesperson for President Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 Election Campaign Team, Daniel Bwala, stated that only President Bola Tinubu has the authority to decide which Ministers will remain in his cabinet and which will be replaced.

Recall that the Presidency on Wednesday through a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that there would be a cabinet reshuffle.

However, Onanuga did not provide a specific timetable for the overhaul.

He stated that Tinubu would make cabinet adjustments based on empirical public opinion and the performance of his ministers during the last year and four months of his tenure.

Contrary to some public perceptions, Onanuga noted that the Tinubu administration had achieved important milestones in its efforts to transform the economy, although many were unaware of these achievements.

Onanuga said: “I don’t have a timetable. The president has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet and he will do so. I don’t know if he wants to do it before October 1, but he will definitely do it.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Bwala dismissed speculations circulating about claims of knowing the fate of the ministers, saying they were mere guesses.

Bwala said: “The president is assessing whether some people believe in his government because if they do, you will be the messenger of what you believe.

“However, who should go or stay is the president’s prerogative. Only the president knows who will go and who will stay. Anyone who tells you they know is either second-guessing themselves or not being fair to themselves.”

“I don’t know anyone tipped me for the job. I read things on social media, but every citizen should support the government in whatever way they can without waiting for the appointment,” he added.
