Police are questioning three officers for allegedly extorting N1m from corps members in Lagos

The Lagos State police command has interrogated three officers for allegedly extorting N1 million from members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Surulere area of the state.

This follows the release of a recording of a meeting held by Oluyemi Fasipe with his handle X on Friday.

He wrote: β€œDear @BenHundeyin, Your officers today in Surulere extorted 1 million naira from three corps members. They were threatened with firearms, kidnapped and taken to AREA C POLICE COMMAND KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE @LagosPoliceNG where they were robbed.

β€œTheir violation was the absence of a physical copy of the driving licence. This is evil!”

In another post on its X account, the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the three men had been summoned for investigation into the allegations.

β€œThe men have been summoned and their trial has begun.

β€œWe urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at State Headquarters to provide testimony at the ongoing trial,” the spokesperson added.
