Finidi George bests Yemi Olanrewaju in NPFL master-apprentice showdown

Rivers United head coach Finidi George guided his team to a 2-0 victory over his former club, Enyimba, in the Nigerian Premier Football League fixture on Sunday.

In the matchday four showdown, Finidi, former Enyimba head coach, bested his former assistant, Yemi Olanrewaju, in a competition dubbed “Master vs Apprentice Battle”.

Rivers United claimed victory thanks to goals from Ubong Friday and Seiyefa Jackson.

Friday opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a well-placed shot, while Jackson doubled the lead with a stunning strike in the 89th minute after a clever combination play with David Benjamin.

The win further solidifies Rivers United’s position as one of the NPFL’s top contenders this season.
