Enyimba assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has expressed satisfaction with the team’s constant improvement following their impressive form in the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL.
The nine-time NPFL champions recorded their second consecutive victory on Sunday, defeating 10-man Plateau United 2-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
The result extended Enyimba’s unbeaten run to three league games and lifted the Aba team out of the relegation zone.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele opened the scoring for the hosts just before the half-hour mark, while Richard Ezinwa doubled Enyimba’s lead in the 66th minute.
Ukaegbu believes that the People’s Elephant is gradually returning to its best level and has regained the competitive edge that has characterized the club in recent years.
“We are back to our best form and I can assure you this. Our success has been based on the consistency and commitment of the players to work as one unit,” Ukaegbu told reporters after the match.
“The players have now developed a comprehensive understanding of the expectations we have set for them. This understanding explains the remarkable resurgence they have seen.”
Enyimba will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to face Katsina United in their next NPFL match.
