The Democratic Party of people has again postponed the meeting of the National Executive Committee to May 15, 2025.
In a Sunday declaration, the National Secretary of the PDP, Sunday Ude-Okoye, said that the reason for the postponement for the meeting, originally scheduled for March 13, was due to zonal, state, local government and the department, as well as the need for further consultations.
This marked the fifth time that the PDP has reprogrammed its 99th NEC meeting, further exposing the internal divisions within the part.
The crisis within the PDP intensified since Umar Damagum has taken on the position of national president following the removal of the court of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, with growing requests for resignation.

However, the meeting was postponed for the first time to 24 October 2024 and subsequently reprogrammed for November 28, 2024, before being indefinitely delayed.
In response, the forum of the governors of the PDP, led by the governor of the state of Bauchi Bala Mohammed, directed the NWC in December 2024 to ensure that the NEC meeting was held at the last of February 2025.
On December 5, 2024, the president of the Foundation Council, Adolphus Wabara, raised concerns that the continuous delays were eroding the trust and trust of the members of the PDP.
To ensure that the meeting was promptly held, the forum of the Governors of the PDP, during the meeting in Asaba, in the state of the delta, on January 31, proposed on March 13 for the meeting of the NEC.
However, in a new development, the party leadership announced that after consulting all the party organs, the 99th NEC meeting was, for the fifth time, postponed to May 15th.
The declaration stated: “The distinct members of the National Executive Committee may remember that, after the due resolution by the party leaders, the interested parties and the relevant bodies of the party, the NEC meeting would have been held on Wednesday 13 March 2025.
“However, following emerging issues, including the need to conclude our zonal, state, local government, as well as to allow further consultations to ensure the regular conduct of the meeting, in particular as regards other proposals of our parties, the governors of the PDP and the PDUS and the PDURS and the PDUS.
