MILO Nigeria, in association with former Super Eagles captain and MILO brand ambassador, Ahmed Musa, concluded the inaugural MILO × Ahmed Musa Sports Clinic and Tournament in Kano, providing over 2,500 young footballers with professional training, mentorship and competitive football experience.
The two-week initiative included 10 training sessions, giving participants the opportunity to improve their football skills and compete in matches under the guidance of Musa and experienced coaches. Beyond technical training, the program emphasized teamwork, discipline, resilience and confidence as essential values for young athletes both on and off the court.
The initiative culminated in a tournament at the Ahmed Musa Sports Complex in Kano, where the Khamis Football Academy emerged champions of the inaugural edition. Participants also received cash prizes, certificates and soccer equipment in recognition of their participation and achievements.
Speaking about the initiative, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, Category Leader at MILO, said the program reflects the brand’s commitment to youth development through sport.
“At MILO, we believe that sport is a powerful platform for young people to discover their skills, build confidence and develop values that extend beyond the playing field. Our partnership with Ahmed Musa brings together MILO’s long-standing commitment to sports development and the experience of an athlete whose journey from grassroots football to the highest level of the game can inspire the next generation,” he said.
Tweneboah-Koduah added that combining Musa’s experience with structured training and competition had created an opportunity for young Kano footballers to develop their skills, learn from experienced professionals and better understand the dedication required to pursue their ambitions.
For participating players, the clinic provided the opportunity to learn from an athlete whose football journey began in northern Nigeria before progressing to the highest levels of the sport. Musa’s experience offered aspiring footballers a practical example of how discipline, constant training and determination can support their development.
Commenting on the partnership, Ahmed Musa said Nigeria had abundant football talent but stressed that young players needed more than natural ability to succeed.
“Nigeria has incredible football talent, but talent alone is not enough. Young players need good training, regular competition and people to guide them. I am proud to partner with MILO and share some of what football has taught me. My message to these players is simple: keep training, listen to your coaches and work hard every day to improve,” Musa said.
The former Super Eagles captain also called for greater investment in grassroots football, highlighting the need to provide young players with access to quality training, structured development programs and regular competitive opportunities.
The MILO × Ahmed Musa Sports Clinic and Tournament builds on MILO Nigeria’s long-standing commitment to youth development through sports. Through school and grassroots sports initiatives, the brand continues to promote participation in sports while creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills and adopt values that can benefit them throughout their lives.
