Breaking: the president of the Amac Maikalangu Dumps PDP for APC

The President of the Council of the Municipal Area of Abuja (Amac), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, he publicly revealed his reasons to join the Congress All Progressives (APC) by the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday 13 April.

According to a Monday declaration, signed by the Special Senior assistant for the media and public affairs in Maikalangu, the Hon. Kingsley Madaki, the president of the Amac, said that Abuja’s residents were missing opportunities in terms of jobs/federal appointments due to not supporting APC.

He expressed the trust that the APC will provide him with a better platform for him to achieve his goals and improve the life of Amac citizens.

He said: “It was important that we took a position and the position we took is for the good of our democracy and to ensure that the good people from Amac were going on.

“My people must know that for having made that decision, I had examined the general interests of the AMAC people. I was not elected to guide the entire Nigeria, I was elected to guide the residents of the Amac. I examined the interests of my people and I saw that these interests were not protected any other part compared to the APC.

“I saw the fact that we are losing our opportunities in terms of jobs/federal appointments, the goodies of the federal level and as well as federal interventions could not reach us because of the differences in the party and is thus in politics.

“In the places where we need ecological funding in dilapidated areas in our communities that are beyond us, we may not have immediate attention because of the filiation of the party. We keep aside emotions, the more they continue to free these works/opportunities, the more we will continue to lose our wealth to grow and move forward.”

He added: “However, other politicians who have made similar transitions have mentioned various reasons for their decisions.

“Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a former member of the House of representatives of the AMAC, joined the APC to contest the elections of the Governorate of 2025 in the state of Anambra, stating that he wanted to connect the state of anambra to the center (Abuja) and lead to positive changes and development.

“Dr. Kingsley Kelachukwu Okoronkwo, who downloaded the Labor party for the APC, mentioned the crisis and controversies in court that afflict the Labor party as a reason.”

Maikalangu expressed the trust that APC would have provided him with a better platform to achieve his goals and improve the life of Amac citizens.

“Getting up to APC could be a strategic move for Maikalangu to advance his political career and achieve his goals.

“It is worth noting that an APC garment, Hon. Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, has urged Maikalangu to join the APC for the improvement of Amac.

“However, with the direct declaration of Maikalangu, the exact reasons for his decision remain for the general good of his people,” he further revealed the declaration.
