Double Jovic against Inter Fires Milan in the Italian Cup Final

A double from Luka Jovic and a goal by Tijjani Reijnders helped AC Milan playing the rivals of the city, Inter 3-0 Wednesday and sealing a 4-1 aggregate triumph to reach the Italian Cup final.

Inter gained a 1-1 draw against Milan in the first stage of the semifinal, but was unable to prevent an aggressive Milan from dominating the game on Wednesday.

The victory created a showdown against Bologna or Empoli, who play the second stage of their semifinal Thursday, with Bologna defending a 3-0 advantage from the first meeting.

Inter are still hunting for both Serie A titles and Champions League, but they have undergone a torrid time against Milan this season, losing three times and drawing twice.

Sergio Conceicao’s Milan has the opportunity to raise a second trophy this season, after the Italian triumph of the Super Cup in January.

After an exit in the Champions League and a poor race that left them in ninth place, it was an otherwise disappointing campaign for Conceicao’s team.

Yet the goals Marcher Reijnders hopes to be able to end the season with a high note.

“We have a duty to believe we can win it,” he told journalists from the Italian Cup final.

Inter started well and Federico Dimarco has almost found the net in the middle of the first half with an extraordinary effort that crashed from the bar after a quick free kick.

Ten minutes later, the captain of Inter Lautaro Martinez clung to a demolished in the box, but blocked his high effort in the stands.

AC Milan hit with their first real possibility nine minutes before the break, while Alex Jimenez put on the cross to make Jovic nod at home.

The Serbian sent half of San Siro in ecstasy four minutes after the restart, doubled the advantage of Milan after a corner made his way to the far post, where Jovic fought to force him.

Inter humiliation was complete when Reijnders was played free of charge inside the box and easily inserted the third of Milan from an acute corner to the 85th minute.

The final is May 14 at the Olympic stadium.
