Ogun Hajj contingent urged to support the discipline, OMC Save Amirul-Hajj appointment

The Muslim Council of the State of Ogun (OMC) has accused intense pilgrims from the state and throughout the country to behave with discipline and decorum during the 2025 Hajj exercise.

Speaking in a farewell event held in Abokuta for the state contingent, the Council warned that any act of indiscipline – is deliberated or unintentional, could obscure the image of Nigeria and hinder the overall success of the religious pilgrimage.

The OMC, under the guidance of Awujale of ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, described Hajj as a sacred global convergence that requires close adherence to the rules and spiritual awareness.

In a declaration signed by the Secretary General of the Council, ASIWAJU KAMALDEEN AKINTUNDE, the Council has urged the pilgrims to fully conform to the directives of Hajj officials and collaborate with the welfare teams to guarantee an unprecedented experience of continuity.

“Pellegrini must understand that the achievement of Hajj Mabrur (a pilgrimage accepted spiritually) does not concern only the rituals, but also the suspension of a good conduct, order and mutual respect”, the declaration reads in part.

The Council also praised the Governor of the State of Ogun, Dapo Inhabitun, for the appointment of Prince Shamusideen Adebayo Apelogun as AMIRUL-HAJ of the State, which describes the choice as “deserved, meritorious and commendable”.

The OMC has encouraged the new Amirul-Hajj to maintain the high standard for which the state has become known in its Hajj operations, exhorting it to work closely with the Hajj welfare committee for a successful mission.

The mantra of the development of the state was also reminded of pilgrims, “Igbega ipinle ogun, a Jo se gbogbo wa n” (the progress of the state of Ogun is our collective responsibility), while they embark on the spiritual journey.

The Council expressed optimism on the fact that the 2025 Hajj exercise would be peaceful and impactful for all participants.
