Nabs Army Alleged Criminal Syndicate Related to attacks in the highlands, Kaduna

The Nigerian Army troops have arrested two suspects who are believed to be behind a series of violent crimes in society throughout the highlands and Kaduna countries, following operations driven by coordinated intelligence.

The arrest was made by personnel from 3 Divisions and Operations of the Nigerian Army Safe (Opsh), who carried out a mission in collaboration with intelligence agents. The suspects were reportedly involved in criminal activities in the Gashish and Kurra Falls areas in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) in the State of the Highlands, as well as the Gwantu and Fadan Karshe region in Sanga LGA in the Kaduna state.

Confirming the development on Sunday, Major Samson Zhakom, a media information officer of the Safe Haven operation, said the operation was based on intelligence that could be followed up.

“Troops of 3 Divisions/Operations Safe Haven, supported by an intelligence agent, carried out intelligence -based operations on early May 11, 2025, in Marit Mautat in the Barkin Ladi Regional Government in the State of the Highlands,” Zhakom said.

He added that the arrest followed the previous breakthrough on May 10, when the troops caught a person suspected of being a shooter and kidnapper, Yahaya Adamu, at Barakin Gangare, also at Barakin Ladi LGA.

Follow -up operations lead to the arrest of other famous suspects, Saeedu Haruna, along with recovery of weapons and equipment.

“During the follow-up operation, the troops captured the famous shooter/kidnapper, Saeedu Haruna, and found an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and one ITEL telephone,” said Zhakom.

Initial investigations have linked the captured individuals and their syndicates with most of the criminal incidents in the targeted area.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects arrested and their syndicates were responsible for most of the criminal activities along Gashish and Falls Kurra in Barkin Ladi LGA from the State of the highlands, as well as in the Kuangan and Fadan Karshe in Sanga Lga from the State of Kaduna,” he said.

Zhakom also revealed that the suspects are currently being detained and in collaboration with the ongoing interrogation.

“The suspects made a useful recognition while in custody, and efforts were ongoing to track and arrest other members of the criminal syndicate, and restore their weapons,” he added.

The operation that succeeded in marks other steps in the military sustainable effort to restore peace and security to problematic sections in the northern central region of Nigeria.
