At least six people were killed in a fatal accident along Mbiabong Itam Road at Akwa Ibom on Wednesday.
Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector in the state, Mr. Edward Odiete, revealed this to journalists on Thursday at UYO.
Oduete said a three -wheeled and truck was involved in an accident that occurred around 8:00 in the morning on Wednesday.
He said: “Four men, a woman and two children were involved in the accident. Three of men, women and two children had been confirmed to have died.
“We mobilized to the scene when receiving a report, but the truck driver escaped from the accident site before our arrival.”
FRSC officials said the corpse of the deceased had been kept in a morgue, and that the road had been cleaned of ruins.
Odiete blamed the accident on driving recklessly, and urged the driver to avoid speeding on the highway
“The driver must avoid driving recklessly, speeding, wrong drive, and driving that is distracted. Life is valuable.
“The incident will be avoided if the driver and three -wheeled driver observe the level of steps and a certain safety prevention measures,” he added,
