The Flamingos claim a 3-0 victory over the Generation Next Queens in a training match

The Nigerian Flamingos continued preparations for their next assignment with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Generation Next Queens in an 80-minute training match.

The match provided the U-17 women’s national team with another opportunity to test their preparation, evaluate their options and develop their match acumen ahead of their competitive commitments.

The Flamencos got off to a good start and took the lead in the sixth minute with an own goal from Blessing Ibrahim, giving the national team an early lead.

Nigeria continued to control the match and doubled their lead eight minutes later when Mary Dunstan found the back of the net in the 14th minute.

Generation Next Queens tried to respond, but the Flamingos maintained control and went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

The national under-17 team continued in similar fashion after the restart and scored a third goal in the 49th minute, with Gbemisola Jaiye unfortunately putting the ball into his own goal.

The Flamingos then carried the rest of the match to secure a lopsided 3-0 victory at the end of the 80-minute match.

Although it was only a training match, the match offered valuable competitive minutes for the Flamingos as the coaching staff continues to work on the team’s tactical organization, combinations and overall preparation for the match.

The performance also provides the players with the opportunity to build confidence, particularly with the team’s preparations focused on ensuring they are ready for the demands of their upcoming competitive matches.

The Flamingos will now continue their preparations, and the coaching staff is expected to take advantage of the lessons from the match to fine-tune the team ahead of its next assignment.

The 3-0 win over Generation Next Queens provides another positive result for the Nigerian women under-17s as they continue their preparations.
