Lagos suspended the Epe Kingship installation, canceling Sallah’s prayer in the middle of the royal struggle

He also canceled all the Eid-Al-Adha (Ileya) and the Friday Prayer meeting scheduled for the Central Mosque and the Eid al-Fitr Land of the community.

This decision was conveyed in a formal letter on Tuesday to the Grand Imam from the Central Mosque, following the emergence of two rival prosecutors to a respected bench – Chief Adeniyi Kadri Odedeogboro and Head of Iskilu Olajide Ikufie – after the passing of former Monarch, Oba Shefifie.

Animashaun quoted an increasingly greater security issue and the potential for civil riots as a reason for its intervention, warning that the doubles claimed that the throne could trigger instability among each follower.

His statement was read partly: “The sequel to the double-epe kingdom double installation on June 2, 2025 which is legally canceled and canceled as a result of the recent decline of the kingdom of the kingdom of Epe Oba Shefiu Adewale, I wrote to tell your high office Adeniyi Adeniyi Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi, Adeniyi.

“Further updates will be communicated to the subject above.”

The void of leadership followed the death of Oba Shefiu Adewale, who died in the early days of Saturday, May 31, 2025. The deceased King, 86 years old, had risen through the ranks of the chief as otun-baloging and Balogun before being crowned king.

With the uncertainty that is now looming over the succession process, the steps of the local government are seen as an effort to prevent further escalation while waiting for formal guidance from traditional and state authorities.
