Cristiano Ronaldo got the decisive goal when Portugal arrived from a goal to beat Germany 2-1 in the first semifinal of the UEFA League 2024/2025 played inside the Arenz de Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
It was Ronaldo’s 137 goal for the national Portuguese male team.
The last time Portugal defeated Germany was a 3-0 victory in its latest group game, during the European championship of 2000 co-elanfitrion for the Netherlands and Belgium.
Upon entering the semifinal tie, Portugal had lost its last five games with Germany.
In addition, Portugal has now registered four victories (five draws, 11 losses) against the Germans.
After a first half without goals, Florian Wirtz opened the scoring for Germany three minutes in the second half.

Francisco Concicao, who entered in the 58th minute, did it 1-1 with a beautiful left-footed curl in the distant corner.
Then, in the 68th minute, Ronaldo scored the winner while taking advantage of Nuno Mendes’ cross at Paris Saint-Germain’s house.
Meanwhile, the second semifinal will make Spain European champions face France on Thursday.
Founded in 2018, Portugal, France and Spain are the three countries that have won the title of the UEFA Nations League.
Portugal won the Maiden edition in the 2018/2019 season after overcoming Netherlands 1-0 in the final.
The French were crowned champions in the 2020/2021 campaign thanks to a 2-1 win over Spain.
Then, the Spanish won the final of the 2022/2023 season, a 5-4 penalty victory against Croatia after the regulation and extra time ended 0-0.
