Messi Nets Winner as Inter Miami defeated Porto in Club W’CUP

Lionel Messi scored Inter Miami’s winner in the second match of the FIFA Club World Cup when they saw Portugues Giants Porto 2-1 on Thursday night.

The Argentine striker scored the 50th goal for Inter Miami when they came from behind to win.

Porto led after only eight minutes when Samu Aghehowa squeezed a penalty under the arm of the Oscar Ustari goalkeeper.

But Telasco Segovia triggered Inter Miami’s comeback by equalizing before Messi sealing the inaugural victory of the MLS franchise in the competition with a trademark free kick.

The 37-year-old player shot widened from the set-piece further only a few moments before but, when presented with other opportunities centrally, he executed perfectly to score his 68th goal from a direct free kick.

Messi’s sixth goal in the competition means that he was second in the list of goalscorers of all time of the World Cup with Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema-and only one shy from the leader Cristiano Ronaldo (7).
