The wing of youth Sokapu rejects an offer against Senator Katung

The youth wing of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (Sokapu) has dissociated itself from a recent appeal to the call of senator Sunday Marshall Katung stating that the move was divisive and not representative of the wider interests of the southern Kaduna.

In a declaration issued by Sokapu’s National Youth Wing, the group condemned a press conference held by a group known as Southern Kaduna Progressives Network that had revealed plans to start a recall process against the Senator and present a petition to the Commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) for an investigation into its activities.

The declaration was jointly signed by his partner Solomon Simon (national coordinator), to his partner Aruwa Alhassan (secretary general) and his partner Isah Emmanuel AnjaDick (National Public Relations Officer).

The youth body rejected the attempt to call as a politically motivated campaign aimed at destabilizing the region. He reaffirmed his trust in the performance of Senator Katung and praised his legislative and development steps since he took the position in 2023.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the buffering and the divisive posture of this group. Their action is not only badly, but does not also represent the collective aspirations, values ​​or direction of the young people of the southern Kaduna”, reads the declaration.

By highlighting the senator track record, the group cited several key interventions attributed to Katung, including a rescue of 1.6 billion ₦ for ginger farmers, the federal support for the victims of the epidemic of device of 2023 and the sponsorship of Bills that establish the Federal University of application scenions in Kachia, the Federal Medical Center in Kafanchan and a center and a center technological south of Kaduna.

The group has also noticed some basic initiatives such as the distribution of fertilizers to farmers, the support of scholarships for destitute students, rural health projects and the supply of over 30 wells among the communities.

They urged the young people of the south of Kaduna to remain united, avoid being used as political tools and focusing on the construction of a region anchored to peace, inclusion and development.
