Nigeria will continue its preparation for the WAFCON 2024 when the Super Falcons face their Portuguese counterparts in an international friendly, this Monday.
The Super Falcons seek to win a record that extends 10 titles in the WAFCON and start their campaign in group B against Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria in Casablanca.
Team chief coach, Justin Madugu is full of confidence and says they are concentrated and understand the goal in Morocco.
Talking to Brila.net, Madugu admits that there is pressure and the expectation is high in this group of recovering the trophy.
‘Although it is a challenge that we must assume and we cannot reduce the standards. We are Nigeria and exert additional pressure, but we cannot avoid it.
‘We cannot take for granted to any team now and the players understand this: we see it in their behavior in the camp. So we just have to go out and do the job.
Meanwhile, the former U20 WNT chief coach, Nkiyu bullet, has backed the Super Falcons to obtain a victory against Portugal in Monday’s friendly in Amador.
Portugal occupies the 22nd position for FIFA and it is the first meeting against Nigeria who enters Wafcon as the best classified African team.
Nkiyu insists that Super Falcons are a respected side in women’s football and argues that the Gulf among nations is not enormous.
