PDP urges Tinubu intervention in the Osun local council crisis

The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in Osun on Wednesday urged the President of the Tinubu Bola to intervene in the ongoing local government crisis in the state.

Party Chairperson in the state, Mr. Sunday Bisi, appealed at the Veterans Journalist League meeting in Osogbo.

PDP claims the decision of February 10 by the appeal court, Akure, did not return the chairman and member of the Progress Congress (APC) who was fired.

However, APC insisted on the recovery of the chairman and members of the council, elected in 2022.

The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) and Nigeria Union from the Regional Government (Nulge), after that, directing local government workers to withdraw their services from February 17, citing security issues.

Likewise, on June 13, the Appeal Court, Akure Division, rejected the application by APC.

This application is trying to collect the previous appeal submitted on January 13 due to lack of diligent prosecution.

The state government said the decision of the appeal court confirmed the decision of the Federal High Court who fired the chairman and members of the council elected in 2022.

But APC stated that the decision did not cancel the election.

Bisi, however, said the President’s intervention was needed to avoid the details of the law and order in the state.

He accused that the ongoing crisis in the regional government in the state was caused by the APC’s rejection to comply with the decision of the appeal court.

He said the verdict confirmed the election of PDP chairman on February 22 as authentic.

“We have served a copy of the decision to all the relevant authorities, and we are waiting for them to let justice win. We are here to serve the people of the country.

“We will use all legal ways to ensure that justice wins, and we will not fall into the opposition party tactics for the emergency declaration in Osun,” he said.
