Former Governor of the State of Rivers and Minister of Federal Capital Region (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied the report that he allocated 2,082 hectares of land in the Maitama and Asokoro regions in Abuja to one of his sons, described the claim as an orchestration that was fully wrong and evil by “Ajutan journalist.”
An online platform on Thursday, published an exclusive story that claimed that Wike was quietly allocating 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro Highbrow and Mauitama who were considered the two most exclusive districts in Abuja, for his son.
In the story chosen and enhanced by various media clothing, the publication quoted a residential rights allegedly issued in the name of Joaq Farms and Estate Limited, a company that he alleged was related to the Wike family.
Publication added that the allocated soil which was officially intended for agricultural purposes, was used as a front for personal gain by the Minister through his son.
But when reacting to the report, a senior special assistant to the Minister of Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, described it as “another falm of the ranks whose main work is to slander the FCT Minister.”
In a statement on Thursday night, Olayinka describing the claim was baseless and evil, said the minister did not allocate a single plot of land for his children.
Minister’s aide also rejected the accusation, saying that they were the result of “Quack Journalists, who did not have basic training in journalism.”
“My attention has been focused on other evil falsehoods derived from the same elements whose job is to defame and slander the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike,” said Olayinka.
“Even though it is the right of the Minister and his family members, both directly and extended, to have land anywhere in Nigeria, including FCT, provided that all the conditions needed are met, no land is allocated to their children.
“In the publication, the residential rights (R-W-O) issued for Joaq Farms and Estate Limited for agricultural purposes are the only evidence used to justify the claim.
“To avoid doubts, Joaq Farms and Estate Limited, a company registered in Nigeria, received land allocation in the Bwari Area Council for agriculture.
“So, what’s wrong with a farmer get strict land allocations for agriculture?
“In Asokoro and Maitama today, where the FCT Minister can see 2,082 hectares of land to be allocated to anyone?
“Only Quack Journalists will go to the city with the story of the allocation of 2,082 hectares of land in Asokoro and Mauitama, the reasons for some of us continue to advocate professionalism in journalism.
“All publications are wrong and must be ignored,” Olayinka stressed.
