Afenifere urged Tinubu to use the President’s power to restructure Nigeria, creating a state police

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has asked the Ball President Ahmed Tinubu to carry out the President’s strength and carry out the total restructuring of the country and attack the executive bill to the National Assembly to change the Nigerian constitution to allow the establishment of the National Police.

Afenifere who made a call on Thursday after the expanded executive committee meeting held at the home of its national leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, Ondo State, emphasized that the call had become a necessity to follow a series of insecurity in the country.

In a communication issued through its national publicity secretary, Jare Ajayi, the frontline group of Joruba urged Tinubu to use its authority as a president to ensure the actualization of the state restructuring process and ensure that the process that would cause the actualization of the State Police would soon be carried out.

The part of the communication reads:

“Note is taken from the genocide that appears especially in the state of the benue and the highlands and in the northwest, northeast and in certain parts from the southeast of the country.

“The organization feels as much as that is done by security agents, many still need to be done to make the desired goal of the security to be achieved.

“There is a need for strong policies about the truth, justice and determination to ensure that there is no set of people who are dangers or threats to others.

“Given the above, Afenifere recommends the following steps: The state police must be established without further delay.

“In this case, Afenifere asked President Tinubu to continue the executive bill to the National Assembly to change the constitution to allow the formation of state police in line with his statement which said that the state police are now a necessity.

“We ask the president to use his authority to ensure that the process that will lead to the actualization of the state police will be carried out soon.

“Modern technology equipment will be purchased and used intelligently. Some of them are drones, close circuit cameras etc.

“Although the above is important, the need to deal with internal collaborators is also very important.

“As stated by various people in a position to find out, including several high -ranking government officials, elements in the community, in the political office and between security institutions collaborating with those who terrorize the country.

“Note is taken from the fact that several states have announced the law on anti-open-opening. Note is also taken from a call by the federal government in the state to come with animal husbandry to stop grazing.

“Afenifere fully supports this and calls for law enforcement law enforcement.

“When we, Afenifere, have repeatedly advocated, restructuring this country is able to resolve the country’s socio-political and socio-economic challenges.

“For this reason, we strongly believe that the time for restructuring is now. Thus, we call for the presidency to send bills to the national assembly to restructure the country now,” the communication added.
